¹FÜR DEN CHORLEITER. EIN PSALM, VON DAVID.

²Ach Herr, wie lange noch? Willst du mich etwa für immer vergessen? Wie lange noch willst du dein Angesicht vor mir verbergen?

³Wie lange muss ich mich um mein Leben sorgen, tagaus, tagein Kummer in meinem Herzen tragen? Wie lange darf mein Feind über mich triumphieren?

⁴Schau doch her! Antworte mir, Herr, mein Gott! Lass meine Augen in deinem Glanz leuchten, sonst wird mich der Tod in den Schlaf wiegen!

⁵Sonst sagt mein Feind: »Ich habe ihn erledigt!« Und meine Gegner können jubeln, weil ich ins Straucheln gekommen bin.

⁶Aber ich habe fest auf deine Güte vertraut. Jetzt lacht mein Herz vor Freude, weil du mir geholfen hast. Ich will ein Lied singen für den Herrn! Denn er hat mir Gutes getan.
