시편 48편은 고라 자손의 노래로, 하나님이 계신 성 시온의 아름다움과 견고함을 노래한다. 몰려온 왕들이 시온을 보고 놀라 달아난 일을 기억하며, 그 하나님을 후대에 전하라고 권한다.

1（可拉 後裔的 詩 歌。）耶和華 本為大！在我們 神 的城中，在他的聖 山上，該受大 讚美。
2錫安 山─大 君王 的城，在北 面 居高 華美，為全 地 所喜悅。
3神 在其宮中，自顯 為避難所。
4看哪，眾王 會合，一同 經過。
5他們 見了 這城就 驚奇 喪膽，急忙逃跑。
6他們在那裡 被戰兢 疼痛 抓住，好像產難的婦人一樣。
7神啊，你用東 風 打破 他施 的船隻。
8我們在萬軍 之耶和華 的城中─就是我們 神 的城中─所 看見的，正如 我們所聽見的。 神 必堅立這城，直到 永遠。（細拉）
9神啊，我們在你的殿 中 想念 你的慈愛。
10神啊，你受的讚美 正與你的名 相稱，直到 地 極！你的右手 滿了 公義。
11因 你的判斷，錫安 山 應當歡喜，猶大的城邑（原文是女子）應當快樂。
12你們當周遊 錫安，四圍旋繞，數點 城樓，
13細 看 她的外郭，察看 她的宮殿，為要 傳說 到後 代。
14因為 這 神 永永遠遠為我們的 神；他必 作我們引路的，直到 死時。
