¹Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.악한 자가 잘된다고 불평하지 말며 불의한 자가 잘산다고 부러워 마라.

²For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.풀처럼 삽시간에 그들은 시들고 푸성귀처럼 금방 스러지리니

³Trust in the LORD , and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.야훼만 믿고 살아라. 땅 위에서 네가 걱정 없이 먹고 살리라.

⁴Delight thyself also in the LORD ; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.네 즐거움을 야훼에게서 찾아라. 네 마음의 소원을 들어주시리라. Notes

⁵Commit thy way unto the LORD ; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.그에게 앞날을 맡기고 그를 믿어라, 몸소 당신께서 행해 주시리라. Notes

⁶And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.햇빛처럼 너의 옳음을 빛나게 하시고 대낮처럼 네 권리를 당당하게 해주시리라.

⁷Rest in the LORD , and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.고요하게 지내라, 야훼만 믿어라. 남이 속임수로 잘된다고 불평하지 마라. Notes

⁸Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.화내지 말고 격분을 가라앉혀라. 불평하지 마라. 자신에게 해로울 뿐이다.

⁹For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD , they shall inherit the earth.악한 자는 망하게 마련이요, 야훼를 기다리는 자 땅을 물려받으리라.

¹⁰For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be .조금만 기다려라, 악인은 망할 것이다. 아무리 그 있던 자리를 찾아도 그는 이미 없으리라.

¹¹But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.보잘것없는 사람은 땅을 차지하고, 태평세월을 누리리라.

¹²The wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.악한 자, 이를 갈며 의인을 모해하려 할지라도

¹³The Lord shall laugh at him: for he seeth that his day is coming.야훼, 그 끝남을 보시고 비웃으신다.

¹⁴The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow, to cast down the poor and needy, and to slay such as be of upright conversation.올바른 사람을 목조르고, 가난하고 약한 자를 쓰러뜨리려고 악한 무리 칼을 빼들고 활을 당기지만

¹⁵Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.제 칼에 염통이 터지고 활은 부러지리라.

¹⁶A little that a righteous man hath is better than the riches of many wicked.악한 자들의 많은 재산보다 의인의 가난이 더 낫다.

¹⁷For the arms of the wicked shall be broken: but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.악인의 팔은 부러지지만 착한 사람은 야훼께서 붙드신다.

¹⁸The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.덕스럽게 사는 사람은 야훼께서 보살피시니, 그의 유산은 대대손손 영원하리라.

¹⁹They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.나쁜 때에 곤경을 당하지 않으며, 가뭄에도 굶주리지 아니하리라.

²⁰But the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs: they shall consume; into smoke shall they consume away.그러나 야훼를 등진 악인들은 목장을 덮었던 풀처럼 시들고 연기처럼 사라지리라.

²¹The wicked borroweth, and payeth not again: but the righteous sheweth mercy, and giveth.악인들은 꾸기만 하고 갚지 않으나 착한 사람은 동정하고 후하게 준다.

²²For such as be blessed of him shall inherit the earth; and they that be cursed of him shall be cut off.주께서 복을 내린 자는 땅을 차지하고 주께서 저주한 자는 멸망하리라.

²³The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD : and he delighteth in his way.야훼, 사람의 발걸음을 인도하시니 그 발걸음이 안정되고 주님 뜻에 맞는다.

²⁴Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.야훼께서 그의 손을 붙잡아주시니 넘어져도 거꾸러지지는 아니하리라.

²⁵I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.착한 사람이 버림받거나 그 후손이 구걸하는 것을 나는 젊어서도 늙어서도 보지 못하였다.

²⁶He is ever merciful, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.그런 사람은 언제나 선선히 꾸어주며 살고 그 자손은 복을 받으리라.

²⁷Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.악을 피하고 착한 일을 하여라. 네가 이 땅에서 오래 살리라.

²⁸For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.야훼께서는 정의를 사랑하시고 당신께 충성하는 사람을 버리지 아니하신다. 그러나 악하게 사는 자는 영원히 멸망하며 악인들은 그 자손이 끊기리라.

²⁹The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.착하게 사는 자는 땅을 차지하고 언제까지나 거기에서 살리라.

³⁰The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.착한 사람의 입은 지혜를 속삭이고 그 혀는 정의만을 편다.

³¹The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.그 마음에는 하느님의 법이 새겨져 있으니 그의 발걸음이 흔들리지 아니하리라.

³²The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.악인은 착한 자를 노리고 죽이기를 꾀하지만

³³The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.야훼께서 그 손에 버려두지 않으시고 유죄선고 받지 않게 하신다.

³⁴Wait on the LORD , and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it .야훼만 기다리며 그 길을 따라 살아라. 너를 높여주시리라. 너는 땅을 차지하고 악인들이 망하는 꼴을 보게 되리라.

³⁵I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree.악인들이 기승을 부리고 레바논의 송백처럼 높이 솟은 것을 나 보았지만,

³⁶Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.다시 지날 때에는 흔적도 없었고, 아무리 찾아봐도 아무데도 없더라.

³⁷Mark the perfect man , and behold the upright: for the end of that man is peace.덕스러운 사람을 보아라, 정직한 사람을 눈여겨보아라. 평화를 도모하는 사람에게 후손이 따르리라.

³⁸But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off.그러나 죄인들은 모두 멸망하며, 악인들의 후손은 끊어지리라.

³⁹But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD : he is their strength in the time of trouble.야훼께서 의인을 구원하시고 고난 중의 성채가 되신다.

⁴⁰And the LORD shall help them, and deliver them: he shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in him.의인들이 야훼를 피신처로 삼으니, 야훼께서 의인들을 도우시고 구하여주시며 악인들에게서 빼내어 살려주신다.
