시편 87편은 고라 자손의 시로, 하나님이 사랑하시는 시온을 노래하고 애굽·바벨론·블레셋·두로·구스 같은 이방 민족들도 시온에서 났다고 일컬어지리라고 선포하는 7절짜리 짧은 시다.

¹His foundation is in the holy mountains.거룩한 산 위에 잡으신 그 터전,

²The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.야훼께서 사랑하신다. 야곱의 그 어느 처소보다도 그분은 시온 성을 더욱 좋아하시니,

³Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.너, 하느님의 도읍아, 영광스럽게도 너를 들어 말씀하셨다. (셀라)

⁴I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there."이집트도 바빌론도 나를 위하는 나라로 셈하리라. 불레셋과 띠로와 에티오피아도 '아무개가 여기에서 났다.'고 쓰리라.

⁵And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.그러나 시온은 사람마다 어머니라 부르리라. 모두 그에게서 태어났기 때문이다." 그분 친히 이것을 보증하시니 그분은 지극히 높으신 분,

⁶The LORD shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah.야훼! 그분은 만백성을 등록하시고 "아무개가 여기에서 났다."고 쓰리라. (셀라)

⁷As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee.모두 노래하고 춤추며 "우리 복의 샘이 네 안에 있다." 하리라.
