1Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.이와 같이 우리를 사람들이 그리스도의 시중꾼이요, 하나님의 비밀들을 맡아보는 관리인으로 여겨야 합니다.
2Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.이런 경우에 결국, 맡아보는 관리인들한테 요구되는 것은 믿을 만한 사람으로 드러나는 일입니다.
3But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.내가 여러분한테서 심판을 받든지 사람의 법정에서 심판을 받든지 그것은 나에게는 아주 사소한 일입니다. 나도 나 자신을 심판하지 않습니다.
4For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.내 양심에 걸리는 일은 아무것도 없습니다. 그러나 그렇다고 해서 내가 의롭다는 판결을 받은 것은 아닙니다. 나를 심판하시는 분은 주님이십니다.
5Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every man have praise of God.그러니까 여러분은 주님이 오실 때까지는 앞질러 심판하지 마십시오. 주님이 어둠 속에 감추어진 것들을 비추시고 마음속 동기들을 드러내실 겁니다. 그때에 저마다 하나님으로부터 칭찬을 받을 겁니다.
6And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.형제자매 여러분, 내가 이런 것들을 나 자신과 아폴로에게 적용시킨 것은 여러분을 위해서입니다. 그것은 “적혀 있는 말씀 너머로 넘어가지 말라.” 한 것을 여러분이 우리한테서 배우게 하려는 겁니다. 그리하여 여러분이 어느 한쪽을 편들고 다른 쪽에는 반대하면서 거들먹거리지 않게 하려는 것입니다.
7For who maketh thee to differ from another ? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it , why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it ?누가 그대를 특별하게 생각해 줍니까? 그대가 가진 것 가운데 받지 않은 것이 무엇입니까? 정말로 받은 것이라면, 왜 받지 않은 것인 양 자랑합니까?
8Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.이미 여러분은 배가 불렀습니다. 이미 부자가 되었습니다. 우리를 빼놓고 임금 노릇 했습니다. 여러분이 실제로 임금이 되었다면야 얼마나 좋겠습니까! 그리하여 우리도, 여러분과 함께 임금 노릇 하도록 말입니다.
9For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.내가 생각하기에는, 하나님이 사도들인 우리를 사형 선고 받은 사람들처럼 가장 형편없는 사람으로 내보이신 듯합니다. 우리가 세상과 천사들과 사람들에게 구경거리가 되었기 때문입니다.
10We are fools for Christ’s sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.우리는 그리스도 때문에 허무맹랑해 보이는 사람인데, 여러분은 그리스도 안에서 똑똑한 사람입니다. 우리는 약하지만, 여러분은 힘이 셉니다. 여러분은 영광을 누리지만, 우리는 무시당합니다.
11Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;지금 이 시간까지 우리는 굶주리고 목마르며 헐벗고 얻어맞고 떠돌아다닙니다.
12And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:우리 자신들의 손으로 일하면서 애씁니다. 욕을 먹을 때 복을 빌어 줍니다. 박해를 받을 때 참아 냅니다.
13Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and are the offscouring of all things unto this day.헐뜯는 말을 들을 때 부드럽게 응답합니다. 우리는 세상의 쓰레기처럼 되었습니다. 우리는 지금까지도 세상 모든 것들의 찌꺼기입니다.
14I write not these things to shame you, but as my beloved sons I warn you .내가 이런 것들을 써 보내는 것은 여러분을 부끄럽게 하려는 것이 아닙니다. 나의 사랑하는 자녀들로서 타이르려는 것입니다.
15For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.그리스도 안에서 여러분에게 일만 명의 돌봄 교사가 있더라도 아버지는 많지 않습니다. 그리스도 예수님 안에서 복음을 통하여 내가 여러분을 낳았으니까요.
16Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.그러므로 여러분에게 권유합니다. 나를 그대로 따라 하는 사람이 되십시오!
17For this cause have I sent unto you Timotheus, who is my beloved son, and faithful in the Lord, who shall bring you into remembrance of my ways which be in Christ, as I teach every where in every church.이 때문에 내가 여러분에게 디모데를 보냈습니다. 디모데는 주님 안에서 나의 사랑하는 아들이고 믿을 만한 사람입니다. 그가 여러분에게 그리스도 예수님 안에서 내가 걸어가는 삶의 방식을 생각나게 해 줄 것입니다. 어디서나 모든 교회에서 내가 가르치는 그대로요.
18Now some are puffed up, as though I would not come to you.내가 여러분한테 오지 않을 것처럼 여겨서 거들먹거린 사람이 몇 명 있습니다.
19But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech of them which are puffed up, but the power.그러나 주님이 원하시면 내가 빨리 여러분한테 갈 것입니다. 그러면 거들먹거리는 사람들의 말이 아니라 능력을 내가 알아볼 것입니다.
20For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.하나님 나라는 말에 있지 않고 능력에 있으니까요.
21What will ye? shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love, and in the spirit of meekness?여러분은 무엇을 바라십니까? 내가 회초리를 들고 여러분한테 가는 것입니까? 아니면 사랑과 온유한 심정으로 가는 것입니까?
