시편 114편은 이스라엘의 출애굽과 광야 여정을 짧게 노래하는 찬양시이다. 바다와 요단강, 산들이 하나님 앞에서 물러나고 뛰노는 모습을 그리며 온 땅에 주 앞에서 떨라고 외친다.

1When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;이스라엘이 이집트에서 나올 때였어. 야곱 집안이 낯선 말 하는 백성에게서 나올 때였지.
2Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.유다는 주님에게 거룩한곳(성소)이 되었고, 이스라엘은 주님이 다스리시는 곳이 되었지.
3The sea saw it , and fled: Jordan was driven back.바다가 보고는 달아났어. 요르단은 뒤로 돌아섰지.
4The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.산들이 뛰놀았어, 숫양들처럼, 언덕들은 새끼 양들처럼.
5What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?어째서 너는, 오, 바다야, 달아나느냐? 오, 요르단아, 너는 어째서 뒤로 돌아서느냐?
6Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?오, 산들아, 너희는 어째서 뛰노느냐, 숫양들처럼? 오, 언덕들아, 너희는 어째서 뛰노느냐, 새끼 양들처럼?
7Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;주님 앞에서 떨어라, 오, 땅아! 야곱의 하나님 앞에서!
8Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.주님은 바위를 물웅덩이로, 자갈을 물이 나는 샘으로 바꾸는 분이셔!
