시편 130편은 '성전에 올라가는 노래' 가운데 하나로, 깊은 곳에서 하나님께 부르짖은 시인이 죄 용서를 고백하고 주를 기다리다가 이스라엘 전체에 여호와를 바라라고 권하는 8절짜리 시이다.

¹Out of the depths have I cried unto thee, O LORD .아주 깊은 데서부터 내가 주님을 부릅니다, 오, 여호와여!

²Lord, hear my voice: let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.오, 주님, 들어 주십시오, 내 목소리를. 주님의 귀를 기울여 주십시오, 탄원하는 나의 목소리에.

³If thou, LORD , shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?여호와가 잘못에 주목하신다면, 오, 주님, 누가 서 있을 수 있겠습니까?

⁴But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.그래도 주님께는 용서가 있어서, 사람들이 두려움 가운데 주님을 공경합니다.

⁵I wait for the LORD , my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope.내가 여호와께 희망을 품습니다. 이 몸이 희망을 품습니다. 여호와의 말씀을 내가 기다립니다.

⁶My soul waiteth for the Lord more than they that watch for the morning: I say, more than they that watch for the morning.이 몸이 주님을 기다립니다. 아침을 기다리는 파수꾼들보다 더 간절히. 아침을 기다리는 파수꾼들보다 더 간절히.

⁷Let Israel hope in the LORD : for with the LORD there is mercy, and with him is plenteous redemption.기다리세요, 이스라엘 백성 여러분, 여호와를! 여호와께는 한결같은 사랑이 있습니다. 여호와가 죄에서 넉넉히 풀어 주십니다.

⁸And he shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities.여호와가 이스라엘을 풀어 주실 것입니다, 그들의 모든 잘못에서.
