시편 3편은 다윗이 아들 압살롬을 피해 도망할 때 지은 시로 소개되는 8절의 기도시이다. 많은 대적 앞에서 여호와를 방패로 고백하고 구원을 구한다.

1LORD , how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me.오, 여호와여, 내 적들이 얼마나 많은지요!많은 사람이 일어나 내게 맞서네요.
2Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.많은 사람이 나를 두고서 말합니다. “그는 하나님한테서 도움받지 못해.” 셀라.
3But thou, O LORD , art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.그렇지만 주님이야말로, 오, 여호와여, 나를 감싸 주는 방패이십니다! 나의 영광이시고 나의 머리를 들게 하시는 하나님이십니다.
4I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.나의 목소리로 여호와께 내가 부르짖으면, 여호와는 내게 대답하시지, 여호와의 거룩한 산에서. 셀라.
5I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.나는, 누워 자고 깨어나지. 여호와가 나를 떠받쳐 주시거든.
6I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about.나는 두려워하지 않아, 수만 명의 사람들이라도! 그들이 사방에서 나에게 맞선다 하더라도!
7Arise, O LORD ; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly.일어나십시오, 오, 여호와여, 나를 구해 주십시오, 오, 나의 하나님! 주님이 치셨습니다, 내 모든 원수의 뺨을. 악인들의 이빨을 주님이 부러뜨리셨습니다.
8Salvation belongeth unto the LORD : thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.여호와께로부터만 도움을 받을 수 있습니다. 주님의 백성에게 주님의 복을 베풀어 주십시오. 셀라.
