시편 70편은 원수에게 쫓기는 기도자가 하나님께 "속히" 건져 달라고 부르짖는 다섯 절짜리 짧은 탄원시이다. 시편 40편 13~17절과 내용이 거의 같다.

¹Make haste , O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD .오, 하나님, 나를 건져 내 주십시오.오, 여호와여, 나를 도와주십시오, 어서요!

²Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.내 목숨을 노리는 사람들은 창피당하고 부끄러워하게 해 주십시오. 내가 재난을 당하기 바라는 사람들은 물러나 부끄러워하게 해 주십시오.

³Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.“아하, 아하!” 말하는 사람들은 창피당해 돌아가게 해 주십시오.

⁴Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.주님을 찾는 모든 사람들은 주님을 생각하며 기뻐하고 즐거워하게 해 주십시오. 주님의 구원을 좋아하는 사람들은 “하나님은 크십니다.” 하고 늘 말하게 해 주십시오.

⁵But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD , make no tarrying.나는, 불쌍하고 가난합니다. 오, 하나님, 어서 내게 오십시오. 나의 도움이시고 나를 구해 주시는 분은 바로 주님이십니다. 오, 여호와여, 시간을 끌지 말아 주십시오.
