1My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;얘야, 네가 나의 말을 받고, 내 명령을 너의 안에 간직한다면,
2So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding;지혜에 너의 귀를 기울여 주의 깊게 듣는다면, 깨우침에 너의 마음을 기울인다면,
3Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding;네가 정말 깨달음을 부른다면, 깨우침에게 소리를 지른다면,
4If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;은을 찾듯 찾고, 숨겨 둔 보물을 찾듯 뒤진다면,
5Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD , and find the knowledge of God.그러면 여호와 두려워하는 법을 깨닫고, 하나님 아는 법을 찾아낼 거야.
6For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.여호와께서 지혜를 주시거든. 그분 입에서는 앎과 깨우침이 나오거든.
7He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.숨겨 두시는 거야, 올곧은 사람들을 위해서 성공을, 흠 없이 걷는 사람들을 위해서 방패를.
8He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.정의의 길을 보존하시고, 그분께 한결같은 사람들의 길을 지키시려는 거야.
9Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; yea , every good path.그제야 너는 공의와 정의를 깨달을 거야, 올곧음과 모든 좋은 길도.
10When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;지혜가 너의 마음에 들고, 앎이 너를 기분 좋게 할 테니까.
11Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:신중함이 너를 지켜 줄 테니까. 깨우침이 너를 보살펴 줄 테니까.
12To deliver thee from the way of the evil man , from the man that speaketh froward things;너를 건져 내려는 거야, 나쁜 사람의 길에서, 거짓으로 막말하는 사람에게서.
13Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;그들은 올곧음의 길을 버리는 사람들, 어둠의 길을 걸으려는 사람들이지.
14Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;나쁜 짓 하는 것을 기뻐하는 사람들은 흥겨워하지, 나쁜 사람이 막 나가는 것을.
15Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:그들의 길은 구불구불하고, 그들은 길을 갈 때 어긋나가지.
16To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;너를 건져 내려는 거야, 낯선 여자에게서, 말을 번지르르하게 하는 다른 나라 여자에게서.
17Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.그는 젊을 때의 짝을 저버린 여자야. 자기 하나님과 한 언약을 잊었어.
18For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.그의 집은 죽음 쪽으로 가라앉아 있고, 그의 길은 죽은 영들 쪽으로 이어져 있어.
19None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.그에게 가는 사람은 그 누구도 돌아오지 못하고, 생명의 길에 이르지 못하는 거야.
20That thou mayest walk in the way of good men , and keep the paths of the righteous.그러니 너는 착한 사람들이 가는 길을 가야 하고, 의로운 사람들이 가는 길을 따라야 해.
21For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.올곧은 사람들이 땅에 살고, 흠 없는 사람들이 거기 살아남을 테니까.
22But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.악한 사람들은 땅에서 끊어지고, 배신하는 사람들은 거기에서 뽑히는 거야.
