시편 114편은 이스라엘의 출애굽과 광야 여정을 짧게 노래하는 찬양시이다. 바다와 요단강, 산들이 하나님 앞에서 물러나고 뛰노는 모습을 그리며 온 땅에 주 앞에서 떨라고 외친다.

1Quando Israele uscì dall’Egitto, e la casa di Giacobbe di fra un popolo dal linguaggio strano,
2Giuda divenne il santuario dell’Eterno; Israele, suo dominio.
3Il mare lo vide e fuggì, il Giordano tornò addietro.
4I monti saltarono come montoni, i colli come agnelli.
5Che avevi, o mare, che fuggisti? E tu, Giordano, che tornasti addietro?
6E voi, monti, che saltaste come montoni, e voi, colli, come agnelli?
7Trema, o terra, alla presenza del Signore, alla presenza dell’Iddio di Giacobbe,
8che mutò la roccia in istagno, il macigno in sorgente d’acqua.
