시편 114편은 이스라엘의 출애굽과 광야 여정을 짧게 노래하는 찬양시이다. 바다와 요단강, 산들이 하나님 앞에서 물러나고 뛰노는 모습을 그리며 온 땅에 주 앞에서 떨라고 외친다.

1When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of strange language;이스라엘이 이집트에서 나올 때에, 야곱의 집안이 다른 언어를 쓰는 민족에게서 떠나올 때에,
2Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.유다는 주의 성소가 되고, 이스라엘은 그의 영토가 되었다.
3The sea saw it , and fled: Jordan was driven back.바다는 그들을 보고 도망 쳤고, 요단 강은 뒤로 물러났으며,
4The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.산들은 숫양처럼 뛰놀고 언덕들도 새끼양처럼 뛰놀았다.
5What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?바다야, 너는 어찌하여 도망을 치고, 요단 강아, 너는 어찌하여 뒤로 물러났느냐?
6Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?산들아, 너희는 어찌하여 숫양처럼 뛰놀며, 언덕들아, 너희는 어찌하여 새끼양처럼 뛰놀았느냐?
7Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;땅아, 네 주님 앞에서 떨어라. 야곱의 하나님 앞에서 떨어라.
8Which turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.주님은 반석을 물웅덩이가 되게 하시며, 바위를 샘이 되게 하신다.
