시편 128편은 '성전에 올라가는 노래' 가운데 하나다. 여호와를 경외하는 사람이 받는 복을 일의 열매, 아내와 자녀, 시온과 예루살렘의 번영으로 그린 6절짜리 짧은 시이다.

¹Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD ; that walketh in his ways.주님을 경외하며, 주의 명에 따라 사는 사람은, 그 어느 누구나 복을 받는다.

²For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be , and it shall be well with thee.네 손으로 일한 만큼 네가 먹으니, 이것이 복이요, 은혜이다.

³Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.집 안방에 있는 네 아내는 열매를 많이 맺는 포도나무와 같고, 상에 둘러앉은 네 아이들은 올리브 나무의 묘목과도 같다.

⁴Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD .주님을 경외하는 사람은 이와 같이 복을 받는다.

⁵The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.주께서 시온에서 너에게 복을 내리시기를 빈다. 평생토록 너는, 예루살렘이 받은 은총을 보면서 살게 될 것이다.

⁶Yea, thou shalt see thy children’s children, and peace upon Israel.아들딸 손자손녀 보면서 오래오래 살 것이다. 이스라엘에 평화가 깃들기를!
