The passage preserves one of the oldest confessions of faith of the early church and is widely used in evangelism and in the sinner's prayer.
Romans 13:1

1 Corinthians 13:4–7
[Bible Verses]First Corinthians 13:4–7 is a passage that begins "Charity suffereth long, and is kind" and uses fifteen verbs to describe what love does and does not do. It is the passage most frequently read at weddings, yet commentators often point out that it was originally addressed to a church quarreling over spiritual gifts.
1 Corinthians 14:34–35
[Bible Verses]A Pauline passage instructing, "Let your women keep silence in the churches," and directing that if they wish to learn anything, they should "ask their husbands at home." It is a central text in debates over the ordination of women and the role of women in the church. Its position in the manuscript tradition is also debated.

Ephesians 5:22-25
[Bible Verses]A passage that moves from "Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord" to "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it." 1 Timothy 6:10
[Bible Verses]A warning that "the love of money is the root of all evil." Interpreters frequently stress that the verse targets the love of money rather than money itself. It is among the passages most often cited in discussions of church financial ethics and in critiques of prosperity theology.
John 6:53–54
[Bible Verses]In this passage Jesus says, "Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you." The Catholic Church and various Protestant traditions disagree on whether these words refer to the Lord's Supper and on how Christ is present in its bread and wine.
John 8:32
[Bible Verses]"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32) is a saying of Jesus. The phrase is widely used outside the church as a symbol of academic freedom and freedom of the press, but commentators often point out that in its original context it means that disciples who continue in Jesus' word are set free from bondage to sin.
John 20:23
[Bible Verses]In this verse the risen Jesus gives the Holy Spirit to his disciples and says, "Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them." The Catholic Church cites it as the scriptural basis for the sacrament of penance, while Protestants read it as a declaration of forgiveness through the proclamation of the gospel. Interpretations of the verse therefore differ sharply.
Acts 2:1–4
[Bible Verses]This passage recounts how the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples gathered on the day of Pentecost with a sound like a rushing wind and with tongues as of fire, and how they began to speak in other languages. The event is commemorated as the beginning of the church. What these tongues were, and whether the same experience continues today, are major points of disagreement among denominations.
