1Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down?네가 낚시로 리워야단을 끌어낼 수 있겠느냐 노끈으로 그 혀를 맬 수 있겠느냐
2Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn?너는 밧줄로 그 코를 꿸 수 있겠느냐 갈고리로 그 아가미를 꿸 수 있겠느냐
3Will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee?그것이 어찌 네게 계속하여 간청하겠느냐 부드럽게 네게 말하겠느냐
4Will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever?어찌 그것이 너와 계약을 맺고 너는 그를 영원히 종으로 삼겠느냐
5Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?네가 어찌 그것을 새를 가지고 놀 듯 하겠으며 네 여종들을 위하여 그것을 매어두겠느냐
6Shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants?어찌 장사꾼들이 그것을 놓고 거래하겠으며 상인들이 그것을 나누어 가지겠느냐
7Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears?네가 능히 많은 창으로 그 가죽을 찌르거나 작살을 그 머리에 꽂을 수 있겠느냐
8Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more.네 손을 그것에게 얹어 보라 다시는 싸울 생각을 못하리라
9Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?참으로 잡으려는 그의 희망은 헛된 것이니라 그것의 모습을 보기만 해도 그는 기가 꺾이리라
10None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me?아무도 그것을 격동시킬 만큼 담대하지 못하거든 누가 내게 감히 대항할 수 있겠느냐
11Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine.누가 먼저 내게 주고 나로 하여금 갚게 하겠느냐 온 천하에 있는 것이 다 내 것이니라
12I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion.내가 그것의 지체와 그것의 큰 용맹과 늠름한 체구에 대하여 잠잠하지 아니하리라
13Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle?누가 그것의 겉가죽을 벗기겠으며 그것에게 겹재갈을 물릴 수 있겠느냐
14Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about.누가 그것의 턱을 벌릴 수 있겠느냐 그의 둥근 이틀은 심히 두렵구나
15His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal.그의 즐비한 비늘은 그의 자랑이로다 튼튼하게 봉인하듯이 닫혀 있구나
16One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.그것들이 서로 달라붙어 있어 바람이 그 사이로 지나가지 못하는구나
17They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.서로 이어져 붙었으니 능히 나눌 수도 없구나
18By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.그것이 재채기를 한즉 빛을 발하고 그것의 눈은 새벽의 눈꺼풀 빛 같으며
19Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out.그것의 입에서는 횃불이 나오고 불꽃이 튀어 나오며
20Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron.그것의 콧구멍에서는 연기가 나오니 마치 갈대를 태울 때에 솥이 끓는 것과 같구나
21His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth.그의 입김은 숯불을 지피며 그의 입은 불길을 뿜는구나
22In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him.그것의 힘은 그의 목덜미에 있으니 그 앞에서는 절망만 감돌 뿐이구나
23The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved.그것의 살껍질은 서로 밀착되어 탄탄하며 움직이지 않는구나
24His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone .그것의 가슴은 돌처럼 튼튼하며 맷돌 아래짝 같이 튼튼하구나
25When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.그것이 일어나면 용사라도 두려워하며 달아나리라
26The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeon.칼이 그에게 꽂혀도 소용이 없고 창이나 투창이나 화살촉도 꽂히지 못하는구나
27He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood.그것이 쇠를 지푸라기 같이, 놋을 썩은 나무 같이 여기니
28The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.화살이라도 그것을 물리치지 못하겠고 물맷돌도 그것에게는 겨 같이 되는구나
29Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear.그것은 몽둥이도 지푸라기 같이 여기고 창이 날아오는 소리를 우습게 여기며
30Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire.그것의 아래쪽에는 날카로운 토기 조각 같은 것이 달려 있고 그것이 지나갈 때는 진흙 바닥에 도리깨로 친 자국을 남기는구나
31He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment.깊은 물을 솥의 물이 끓음 같게 하며 바다를 기름병 같이 다루는도다
32He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.그것의 뒤에서 빛나는 물줄기가 나오니 그는 깊은 바다를 백발로 만드는구나
33Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear.세상에는 그것과 비할 것이 없으니 그것은 두려움이 없는 것으로 지음 받았구나
34He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride.그것은 모든 높은 자를 내려다보며 모든 교만한 자들에게 군림하는 왕이니라
