시편 70편은 원수에게 쫓기는 기도자가 하나님께 "속히" 건져 달라고 부르짖는 다섯 절짜리 짧은 탄원시이다. 시편 40편 13~17절과 내용이 거의 같다.

¹Make haste , O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD .하나님이여 나를 건지소서 여호와여 속히 나를 도우소서

²Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt.나의 영혼을 찾는 자들이 수치와 무안을 당하게 하시며 나의 상함을 기뻐하는 자들이 뒤로 물러가 수모를 당하게 하소서

³Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha.아하, 아하 하는 자들이 자기 수치로 말미암아 뒤로 물러가게 하소서

⁴Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified.주를 찾는 모든 자들이 주로 말미암아 기뻐하고 즐거워하게 하시며 주의 구원을 사랑하는 자들이 항상 말하기를 하나님은 위대하시다 하게 하소서

⁵But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD , make no tarrying.나는 가난하고 궁핍하오니 하나님이여 속히 내게 임하소서 주는 나의 도움이시요 나를 건지시는 이시오니 여호와여 지체하지 마소서
