시편 87편은 고라 자손의 시로, 하나님이 사랑하시는 시온을 노래하고 애굽·바벨론·블레셋·두로·구스 같은 이방 민족들도 시온에서 났다고 일컬어지리라고 선포하는 7절짜리 짧은 시다.

1His foundation is in the holy mountains.그의 터전이 성산에 있음이여
2The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.여호와께서 야곱의 모든 거처보다 시온의 문들을 사랑하시는도다
3Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.하나님의 성이여 너를 가리켜 영광스럽다 말하는도다 (셀라)
4I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Ethiopia; this man was born there.나는 라합과 바벨론이 나를 아는 자 중에 있다 말하리라 보라 블레셋과 두로와 구스여 이것들도 거기서 났다 하리로다
5And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.시온에 대하여 말하기를 이 사람, 저 사람이 거기서 났다고 말하리니 지존자가 친히 시온을 세우리라 하는도다
6The LORD shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah.여호와께서 민족들을 등록하실 때에는 그 수를 세시며 이 사람이 거기서 났다 하시리로다 (셀라)
7As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee.노래하는 자와 뛰어 노는 자들이 말하기를 나의 모든 근원이 네게 있다 하리로다
